East Coast Night Owl

August 18, 2010 at 6:22 am (Uncategorized)

If you aren’t already tired of hearing about my epic move from the Pacific Northwest to rural Virginia, let me bend your ear a bit longer.  I am now a night owl.  This would not be terribly exciting news if it were not for the fact that I used to proudly call myself a Morning Person.

Morning Person was a title I bestowed upon myself approximately three years ago when I could no longer sleep past 9am on Sundays.  And more to the point, I enjoyed getting up early.  I reveled in the feel of  morning with its coffee and solitude.

But here I am at 2am, wide awake.  I would like to tell you it’s insomnia but in truth my body simply refuses to switch over to EST, despite the tricks I have tried to play on it.  Every cell in my body thinks it’s 11pm.  And tomorrow instead of getting up at 7am and walking the dog with the cool morning breeze upon my face, I will barely drag myself out of bed before noon.  This being a night owl thing is a shameful business.
